چکیده

This article aims to provide some personal surgical tips increase the success rate of deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK), a very advantageous yet complex procedure for treating keratoconus. The most troublesome step is obtaining successful pneumatic dissection stromal tissue, allowing exposure cleavage plane. following may aid trainee surgeon in mastering this step, among others: performing trephination, using intraoperative segment optical coherence tomography and/or femtosecond laser, exploiting red reflex after pupil dilation, ophthalmic viscoelastic device case bubble formation failure. Approaches reducing postoperative astigmatism are employing large-diameter grafts and keratoscopy with digital ring analysis. In conclusion, different can shorten DALK learning curve help obtain better results from surgery. Standardizing technique paramount reduce "human errors" broaden its range applicability.

Purpose: To determine the etiologic factors on rejection and failure rates and ocular surface changes after corneal transplantation by either DALK or PKP, in cases of keratoconus (KCN). Methods: In this cross-sectional study, considering the existing data, patients with keratoconus referring to Labbafinejad Medical Center from 2006 to 2016, who underwent corneal transplantation, were enrolled a...

Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty in Keratoconus

Keratoconus (KC) is a progressive, bilateral, but usually asymmetrical ecstatic corneal disease, characterized by progressive corneal protrusion and thinning, that leads to corneal surface distortion. The reported incidence in the general population varies from 1.3 to 25 per 100,000 per year across different populations, with a prevalence of 8.8–229 per 100,000. Onset typically is at puberty wi...

Comparison of femtosecond laser-assisted deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty and penetrating keratoplasty for keratoconus

BACKGROUND To compare outcomes of femtosecond laser-assisted deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (FSL-DALK) and penetrating keratoplasty (FSL-PK) for the treatment of keratoconus. METHODS Twenty eight eyes underwent FSL-DALK (consisted of 12 eyes in the FSL-DALKa subgroup without baring the Descemet's membrane and 16 eyes in the FSL-DALKb subgroup baring the Descemet's membrane using big-bubb...
